What type of subway car is on this post card and what system did it belong to?

Going by the unfinished tunnel lining, extra-tight clearances and high bench walls, my first thought was "Hudson and Manhattan". But the caption at the bottom says "The Brooklyn Subway, New York"
Doesn't look like a Lo-V, and deck-roofed HI-V's didn't have arched end windows. Neither did Composites or Gibbs cars (at least according to Google Images). The car has a brakewheel on the end and no door controls under the end windows.
I think I've tapped out my knowledge of prewar IRT equipment. Have you tried doing a Google image search with the photo?

Nate is correct. You can find the original black and white photo if you google it. The colorization washed out the car number (248) somewhat.
