Good Evening,

I'm taking a business trip to Nashville, TN the second week of February.  Are there any hobby shops in the Nashville area that sell Lionel or MTH trains.  I may have some free time, and would like to check out any nearby hobby shops.

Thanks,

Good question as I’ll be in Nashville in March

All,

I was in Nashville last memorial day weekend and was told of a place called "Thor's" about 45 min. from Nashville a small place at sells rocking chairs and used trains. We drove out there and they were closed. So never got to see what they had. phone # 615-895-6918.  416-F Medical Center Pkwy.  this place was recommended to me by a very nice man that I met watching trains in downtown Nashville. The man gave me his card, which said "Train Enthusiast" He invited me to his house to see his layout, apparently he is well know in the area. but we were leaving the next day and didn't have time to meet. I wouldn't hesitate to call him if I had the opportunity again. His name is George Benson  Home 615-895-7417 Cell 615-414-6438  Murfreesboro, TN.

Good luck in your hunt, I would be interested to know what "Thor's " was like. I am in Cincinnati and probably consider a weekend trip to Thors if I can find the time.

Phillip's Toy Mart on Harding Road west of Nashville proper near Belle Meade has been selling Lionel trains for 70 years. They also have some MTH in their train dept. but they do not deal in collectible pre or postwar trains. Just contemporary Lionel. They do have a nice operating layout.

Phillips Toy Mart, phone number 615-352-5363, they’ll give you good directions and it’s the best toy store privately owned you’ll ever visit with hard to find toys from all over the world. It’s truly worth a visit, and your also close to some folks with fantastic model layouts. If your in Nashville, my layout is just an hour away. Also Dr. Fisher has the best of all layouts. My layout was featured in OGR The Video #10. You can go to Tennessee Crossroads dot.org and see my layout and also Dr. Fishers.  There’s lots to do in this area, Country Music is our Heritage, Enjoy your stay.
