Hello!

I have a need to isolate the die-cast shell of an MTH Railing Cab Forward (30-1144). In looking for nylon screws, I found it difficult to measure the size of the four original tender shell screws. I measured them to be 3.44 mm in diameter and 8 mm in length. I was unsure of the thread pitch size, however, I could not find anything other than M3.5 - 0.6 - 8 nylon screws. I will probably order the M3 and M4 size as well, just to be sure. Heck maybe they are not even metric in the first place.

Is anyone aware of the size and could confirm this?

I suppose nylon screws in a die-cast shell could be "re-threaded" to fit, if you only plan to use the screws one time

Thanks,

dennis

Interesting nomenclature that MTH uses. 6-32 x 8mm. To most it should read 6-32 x .250" or 1/4". Fasterners are spec'd either english or metric but not a mix of both.

MTH does use a mix of metric and english fasteners though so even made overseas its not all metric.

The good news 6-32 nylon screws should be available at your local hardware store and if you can't find 1/4" screws, longer ones can be easily cut.
