Need help on how to insert the ribbon contact/plug into the little circuit board on an S-Helper 2-8-0. It's the contact ribbon/strip that runs across the drivers on the bottom. I had to replace the drive gear. Had no issues with that but I can't get that ribbon to reseat in the plug Is there a catch to getting it back in there? I'm afraid if I put too much force it will break. Thanks!

This connection can be a little tricky but is absolutely essential to synchronize the chuffs to the driver rotation. There is a little “collar” which loosens the plug in when pulled “up”. There’s also an .008” shim which holds the wires in place... replaced this shim on my loco with .010 shim to finally make the contact connection. Then pushed the “collar” back in place and it’s worked fine.

(BTW this was after chasing the “no syncro chuff” problem for days... with Carl Tuveson’s Helpful wiring diagram and a multi meter, finally figured out these wires weren’t connecting.)  Have patience !
