Hello all, I have been running my MTH 2-8-0 for awhile now and have run into several issues. I cannot find a headlight bulb CA-0000038 anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get one, or know of an equivelant? It is a 6v screw in....  Also, my wick is charred. I search for wicks and keep getting Lionel wicks. They don't look the same. Does anyone know if just any ol' wick will do? Lastly, the protosound 2.0 is not generating the proper sounds. I hear the train chugging and a whistle, but all the extra noises (brakes squealing, freight noises, etc...) are not present. I've gone through the trouble-shooting steps, but nothing. Is my "sound box" broken? Thanks all.

First, use the new MTH parts website. https://www.mthpartsandsales.com/shop/search/results

Then when searching using old part numbers- remove the dash!!!

Same website, has wick from the homepage, https://www.mthpartsandsales.com/

Then go to "upgrade kits tools, and products" or this link https://www.mthpartsandsales.c...ts/240?type=products

Bottom of that list is official MTH wick material.

Yes, you can use fiberglass braided rope wick, but do not use cotton based wick.

Last, "Lastly, the protosound 2.0 is not generating the proper sounds. I hear the train chugging and a whistle, but all the extra noises (brakes squealing, freight noises, etc...) are not present."

Reset to factory defaults. There is NOTHING wrong with your "sound box".

And john beats me to the punch....

that said, I said "nothing wrong"- to be more clear- that symptom of not having squealing brake and other sounds is not indicative of anything other than a setting maybe being off or expectations and sequencing by the user.

As far as really "nothing" being wrong, for all I know this is a PS2 5V and blows up in the next power cycle.

Could his engine possibly be a Locosound rather than a Protosound 2.0, thus the reason for the lesser sound set?

Actually, I suspect he has Clickity-Clack enabled in the sound menu.  After 30 seconds of steady running, your chuffing goes away and is replaced by their lame "running" sounds.  That's the first option I disable, the dumbest option I see on PS2-PS3.
