Building large O gauge layout with mountain scene which includes a saw mill. Will have Lionel 3 truck Shay that will pull up to saw mill. Need some type of equipment to unload the logs. Ideas of what type machine, brand, where to purchase, etc. will be greatly appreciated.

You just GOTTA have a slash burner....with internal "fire" lights and smoke if you can do it. There's a bonus if you can get the smell right.

As I recall the track next to the pond was tipped a little toward the pond. The chains were dropped and something like a big forklift just rolled the logs off. There was a chain conveyor with spikes that lifted the logs out of the pond into the mill. I recall high pressure water being used to remove the bark at the top of the conveyor. But it’s been a long time and I may be getting different mills mixed up.
Steam donkeys, log skidders, maybe a old fashioned steam crane.
