The PS/2 board is an all-in-one board with sound, motor control, and command logic. I suggest you post the MTH stock number for the engine so it can be verified what you need.
Why not get a ps3/2 board with 5volt connectors? its better than any used 5volt board.
You can also use a 3V PS/2 board as it's possible to lift the connector shells off the boards. Then you install the 5V shells on the 3V board. I have done this to a few boards. It does take a steady hand and a little heat from my heat gun to soften them up a bit, but it solves the problem of the connectors.
Chris and John gave you the two best choices.
Of course, you can opt for a PS32 board, currently only MTH techs are able to directly purchase those. They are a drop-in for the most part for the 5V PS/2 board. You will need a new speaker, and fitting the PS32 package in sometimes is challenging as it has a different form-factor as the 5V PS/2 board. Marty provided some great shots of the PS32 board in the first post of this thread.
