I have a dead railking steamer that belongs to the grandsons. the 5 volt boards died and I want to install a reverse board to get this thing running for them. please let me know what you have.
For forward only, just install a bridge rectifier. The headlamp is 1.8 volts I think if it is constant voltage. You can add a small voltage dropper in series to the motor to get that voltage. You can also run an LED circuit off track power. Hook the smoke unit in series with a 3 amp diode and you have a functioning engine. I dont have any right now but I occasionally convert some Williams and get reverse units.
How about a nice LocoSound board? This will give you speed control, sound, lights, the whole works. I have a new one removed for an upgrade, $25 shipped.
thanks for the replies. would I be able to use the sound board with a postwar zw? would the voltage be correct for the smoke unit and headlight? sorry for the questions, but this modern stuff puzzles me sometimes!
