I would like to get a PRR F3 B unit. I am interested in one that has the correct color of DGLE (not the US Army Green of some earlier Lionel offerings) and is reasonably well detailed scale model.    I don't care if its a dummy or not (I will turn it into one).  I will be converting it to 2 rail.

Which is best for my needs?

So far I have found the following

6-24563 TMCC Powered B Unit

6-39548 Legacy Powered B Unit

Please note it has to be an F3, it has to be Pennsy (number of stripes does not matter), and it has to be a scale model. It does not have to be Lionel

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Mario!

I have a standby reservation with Scott, but I want to know what my options are if I don't make the cut.  Since It looks like the E2b electrics are a non-starter with him, I have decided the next best thing to pull my truc train is a dog's breakfast consist of a GP 7, a GP 9, and an F3 B unit.  I have ordered the first two from Scott, now I just need that B.

And you keep up YOUR good work. I regularly show my Shark Cab (and give you full credit) to all visitors to my layout, and whenever I give a talk on converting 3 rail models to 2 rail:

I think I just drifted my own thread.

IF you want a scale  unit and wnat to make sure it is pennsy detailed, call P&D hobbies and see if they have any kits left.   You can get a dummy kit with gorgeous 2 rail brass trucks.   And you can paint it the scheme you like.    P&D Pat may also have the Microscale decals for it.    these are very think decals and delicate to use, but make up a very nice paint job.    You could get the high fans, low fans, etc.    And if you want 2 rail p owered, you could do that.   P&D also has a large stock of detailing parts.

The Sunset GGD ones are also very nice but I think are now shipping, so  you may not make the cut on that.

P&D has a nice website and Pat Mucci the owner is good to work with.

Thanks for that tip!  I checked the P&D website and they do indeed have some F3 B dummy kits.   While I am not particularly "up" for the task of assembly, gathering all the detail parts, painting and decalling..this is something to keep in the bag if other options don't work out.  I do have plenty of DGLE on hand, so that part is covered.

Thanks again, I appreciate it!

If you need a frame, I have several. Check out the easy way to lower the Lionel F3s:

Let me know when you need Kadee mounts.

Still have that RS11 with your name on it...

 Update!

I have a spare Atlas non-powered F Unit frame as well (silver steps and fuel tank). LMK and they’re yours.

As for Kadee on the Atlas frame, I’d like to say that I have the best, but mine are OK. there’s a seller on Shapeways that has a way better design than mine.
