So what is NETTE ?

In addition to the above, saw several notices included in the latest edition of the TCA Newsletter mentioning that the Connecticut Attorney General's Office is working this case. I believe they even provided a contact person for anyone who had dealings with them or otherwise has relevant information to provide.

rather than hear the word "fiasco" again, i certainly wouldn't mind hearing from anyone who had a good experience with an auction house(?)  ... in a short paragraph (please), ...like how your auction was generally handled, if they took care of disputes and if you got paid on time.

frankly for me i'm thinking it's now down to Stout Auctions.
cheers...gary

Last I heard the owners were arrested but nothing more.

Do you have a link to this story?  I cannot find anything online about it.

Thanks.

Really?  Did you try Google?

Please let me know which of the links you provided, including the one you indicate has the detail, mentions anything about an arrest of the owners.

Really.

Sorry, I thought you meant the story in general.  My bad.

I got that information from a friend who knows somebody who lives in the area. Supposedly they were arrested right in their own town. At least that's what I heard.

Thanks for letting us know.  When I read your comments earlier, I Googled and even checked the Danbury papers but couldn't find anything.

My understanding is that, normally, a dispute between a service provider and a customer is a civil matter and is settled via a lawsuit, bankruptcy proceedings, etc.  When a case like this leaps over to the criminal justice system (i.e., an arrest), it's a completely different ballgame.  I was hoping to read a police blotter or the equivalent to learn more.

I'll update this thread if I find anything.

Thanks.

It's not a problem. I could have been clearer myself rather than saying "this story".  As the refs say, "the penalties offset; do the play over."

Thanks for letting us know.  Being charged with stealing $700K is a pretty serious offense.  The underlying facts of the case must have been pretty sordid and ugly for prosecutors to be mounting such a significant charge.

I feel for those who were taken by these guys, particularly survivors of someone deceased.  I hope they find some measure of relief.

The guy had  (and probably has) a serious gambling problem, became like a Ponzi scheme where payment for trains sold got later and later, until there was no money left coming in - all left at the casinos.

Lines have gone pretty cold since last year  -the trains and the money are gone, not sure there is anything left to collect for those that got stung (and I know a few of them - $700K is no exaggeration).
