For those who haven't gotten the email, Atlas is apparently announcing two brand new locomotives on Tuesday! I'll be curious to see what exactly this means but glad to see them investing in O Scale!

I hope they are truly NEW and not rehashed MTH tooling. I will take a few Alco HH660s in MEC, Boston and Maine, and Portland Terminal liveries, please.
Brand new from brand new or brand used tooling is fine by me! This is very exciting!!
I rarely hear anything bad about Atlas locomotives so the possibility of adding two more great products is good news. Can't wait to hear what they're releasing!
The "Premier Catalog" has been their code for items produced from MTH tooling.
I hope they will make a 2 rail SW 1.
My guess is that they'll do the NJ Transit electric yay they've offered in HO and N as well as a GE or ALCo that they haven't done in O before. That being said I'd much prefer something entirely new such as a Tier IV GEVO. The big question is if these will have TMCC or DCS.
If they are really new and not a re-run of something they or MTH already have done, it would be nice.
The Tier 4 ET44AC/ET44C4 would be awesome, though I want a Lionel Legacy version. An SD70ACe-T4 would be fantastic, too.
Plot twist: Atlas got the Triplex tooling haha that would be amusing.

I don't believe Atlas bought any MTH steam loco tooling, but maybe I'm misremembering. I'd be surprised if these new locos are new tooling in the current economic and demographic climate in the hobby, but am willing to be pleasantly surprised. Best guess is MTH premier with PS3 in new road names.
My money is on a GP40...

I believe you are correct. But it would be something amusing if they pulled a highly desirable steamer. Atlas might really make some waves in the pond if their steam detail would be on bar with their rolling stock.
Because of the word new, I figure even if it's MTH tooling, it will be something Atlas hasn't done yet. You can see all the stuff they bought at the link below. They've already offered most of the locomotives so the S-2, GP-30, SD45, E6, and Dash 9 are about the only options to choose from.

Atlas O still has yet to introduce the PREMIER U30C in paint schemes not yet produced during the MTH Premier years.

The C425's are fantastic engines, and we haven't had a run since 2009. I would like a pair in New Haven livery.
The B40-8s haven't been made since 2008, C-628 since 2009, SW1200 since 2008, etc. We're long overdue for more.

Was excited at first until I saw "Premier." That's ok, but I'm awaiting what seems to have become the scarce good old all-Atlas engines, with the ERR system that can be run with Legacy.

That's a fair point. I know the Erie Biilts have somewhat of a cult following. I would like an Amtrak Dash 8-32.
Mth tooling paid for but not used yet which is new to Atlas O.
I was hoping all the premier line would get the Fixed pilot option.
And just how many years between the official announcement and when it hits the dealers' shelves?
At least 1 year util dealer delivery! More likely 2.5 years!

Yeah that would be great. Hopefully they'll finally get another modern MTH NJT model (GP40, ALP44, ALP46) and insert North Jersey Coast Line sounds since I'm sick of MTH installing mostly Raritan or NEC sounds. The only MTH NJT locomotives from what I know of have the Coast Line sounds are the E8s in Premier and possibly Railking. Atlas also hasn't made an ALP44 since the early 2000s

They kinda do... I had to order the 2-rail version then add the pickup rollers (sold separately).
What my issue is that the frames for the 2-rail units are different than the 3-rail, so you can't just add the 2R pilots with ease. So, that's a long story for I totally agree, I hoped they would be included and easily mountable.

Actually, the OP's official Atlas notice clearly states that the big reveal is to occur April 25, 2023. That's tomorrow.
Around here April 17 was a rather ho-hum Tuesday.

The "new" locomotives are the former MTH SD70MACs and E8s, although some of the E8 tooling has been modified to produce porthole-less carbodies like found on rebuilt engines in the 70s and 80s. Some very nice rolling stock as well - mix of former MTH and Atlas offerings.
No word on former Atlas locomotives.

The locomotives aren't my thing but the prices are nice and they're probably going to be great pieces!
Nice selection of rolling stock. I model an era from the past but I always like the modern rolling stock. I need to inventory my coal hoppers and see if I need more or not.
It looks like the SOO U30C in the original 1968 scheme and the late 1970's scheme will be run some time next year.

WOW! SWEET! Penn Central E-8's. I have been waiting for these. I wonder if Atlas will have added on detail on the pilots like MTH did in later runs. Also wonder if any of the passenger cars are plated? I will have to call Atlas (since they actually answer the phone). Last time I talked to Atlas , they do provide service after the warranty period. That is extremely important to me. If still true, they are the only company to do so that I know of.
I hope Atlas does not abandon 2 Rail.
