I played around with the idea of having a turntable and roundhouse using my track planning software, and I realized just how much space you need. With a 24" turntable, I came up with 4x6 as the minimum for both. If you don't use a roundhouse if you could get maybe 30" wide, you could have the turntable feel ladder tracks on the other side, plus use the turntable to turn the engine's direction.

Unfortunately....I do not think it will work. Maybe consider the space for just an enginehouse. Jim (Bridgeboss) just sent out an ad for his new modular 2 or 3 bay enginehouse. This is based on a more modern design. In 24" you could do some nice scenery and detailing in that area with an enginehouse.

My old layout my turntable and roundhouse took up a 5' x 8' area. They require a lot of space.

where did you see ad for the Bridgeboss engine house? it does not seem to be on his website. also anyone know their phone number ?

I'm planning a new shelf layout that will have a TT and RH scene as the focal point.  I have limited space so this is a challenge, but I was able to come up with a compact design using the Atlas TT and a Korber 320 RH.  Pictured below is a true to scale picture for my plan.  The TT RH peninsula will be 31" wide by 63" long.   I hope this helps.

The whisker track spacing for the Atlas TT is 15 deg.  If you run your tracks into a straight engine shed the curves will be multiples of 15 (0, 15, 30).   The engine terminal peninsula in the track plan I showed could be as narrow as 26" using that concept and allow for at least 5 storage tracks.

I considered that concept, but I really wanted the RH look.  The Korber RH is narrower stall spacing (10 deg I believe) than the Atlas RH (15 deg) so even with this concept I need 5 deg curves so bend the outer whisker tracks into the RH.  Its a compromise I was willing to make to get a more compact scene.
