Actually, I think that thread was more about a supposed theft of SHS S-Trax intellectual property by Circle L.

Don Thompson responded there's no foul play by Lionel regarding S Fastrak vs. SHS S-Trax. He should know.

After all, there's only so many ways one can put two rails on molded ballast.

As far as compatibility goes, while I'm pretty sure there won't be end-to-end plug-'n-play, it's nuthin' a razor saw and some adhesive can't cure...

My guess is that they do a pair of 20" r turnouts this time around. Thats a given. My question is how far will they take it? Will they offer larger radius turnouts? Will they offer numbered turnouts? We shall see. If it is really code .137 rail I would think it would be possible to use it with SHS track which I believe is code .131. At least the flex track I would think. I wonder how long we will have to wait for the new pieces to be delivered? Will we see it this year? I hope so. Please, please Lionel...tell me that the turnouts will support AF, highrail, and scale wheels.

My previous didn't come send correctly for some reason, so I'll do it again. Quote from earlier post:I am not sure what the purpose would be for that big metal thing between the points. I guess this is a subtle means by Lionel to slowly introduce a 3 rail 'S' gauge system to mirror the toy train system they use in 'O' gauge. Neil

Lionel usually applies a liberal dose of Photoshop in most of their catalog illustrations.  The Challengers and U33Cs were Photoshopped O Gauge models.  Even way back when, the stillborn SD40 was a "shopped" Athearn HO locomotive.

Expect to see more examples of Photoshop in the new catalog.

Somebody was pretty bored to do that bad photoshop. This doesn't look too bad.

Oh yeah, I also saw a post on another forum where someone had cut the ends off of Fastrack and S-Trax and they mate up exactly, you just need to use rail joiners. The rail is .137 vs. .131 so it's very close. The only big difference looks to be the color.

After looking at the "transition piece" that is coming out, it makes me wonder if there will be a fastrack piece that will accommodate the action cars/uncoupling.  Or will Lionel just expect people to use a section of traditional flyer track to operate cars/uncouple between two pieces of fastrack?

I am suprised that Lionel is not offering these turnouts to be TMCC/Legacy activated.
