Is it me, or is the red on the new Gilbert Smoke Fluid tank car on the light side - almost rose, not red?  I like the graphics of mine, but expected the red to be more red.  What's yours like?  I added a photo of mine.  Maybe the "pinkish" tone is correct.

Ray I have had my Milwaukee U33 for three months now, I would check with your dealer. I too noticed the red color looking a little off from the catalog picture. I will try and post a picture of the car later Ben

I do not have mine in front of me (yet), but compare the red with that on a LN late '50s Gilbert red and white box or the red on a LN red/white/black set box lid from the same period. The red on the set boxes is somewhat pink in hue because the red ink is printed on white corrigated cardboard. If the color is close to one of those, then it can be argued that the tank car is "correct".

Received my smoke fluid tank car today. Viewing in natural lighting (rather than artificial), I was able to find red and white component boxes and set box end labels that are close to the color on the tank car. The boxes do vary. Some original Gilbert boxes are more red in hue, but the tank car appears to be reasonably close to others. The car's finish is more matte than the red lithography on P8-9 (but half century old) boxes which can result in perceived differences.

Pretty car, BTW, for the Flyer crowd.

I just got my car from Charles Ro.  It was on backorder so they must have more in stock.  The color appears to be very close.  It's a great looking car.  Coming from the packaging / printing industry all colors  (Can't remember the Pantone(?) swatches.)  can vary slightly among box manafacturers and the printing process.  We used to make predominantly red boxes for a major company.  There were slight variations throughout the process.  No color is absolutely correct or dead on.
