New Layout build

it would be nice to incorporate a reversing loop so trains don't travel all in one direction, unless that's what you're looking for.

I just don't know how I would do it. I need 72 minimum for most of my locomotives. I have looked hard at this for a while now and I end up back at this design.

I also have all the track already,  I have gargraves track and ross switches.  I have a 12 x 12 now in the house that has 72 outer with 63 inner mains. And then a 7' x 12' upper main with the same curves.

I enjoy letting the trains run but, I would like to be able to do some switching too.

Any help to make this better is appreciated.

I have a 9x15 with a reversing loop on the table and another on the second level.

You state that you enjoy switching and building consists.  The layout as published (which is OK) has very little provision for switching or building consists.  Where you have that very long lead to the TT you should be able to build a yard that would support these interests.  The center of the right hand loop is very empty and could also support some switching destinations.

Maybe something like this?

Yeah my last build was a 56 Nash metropolitan a blown small block chevy.  A lot in a small package

Maybe as the main level then a reversing loop up top level to reverse the other way. Nice build by the way, lot of power for small car, lol had to look it up don't know what a Nash was..080 outside loop 072 inside just an idea can adjust to what you might want

Hi Fred....the car is too cool. Must have been a beast on the road. Not too many Nash's left out there.

There's a member here, Ken-OSCALE, who has designed many plans similar to what you are looking to do. I did a quick search and found one that you could expand and modify with larger curves to fit your steamers. This plan incorporates reversing loops as well.

An alternative thought: it is often hard to get every trick figured in without becoming too cluttered. You can turn your locomotive on the turntable should you desire to go the opposite direction.
