Several months ago, I asked this forum about available models of a passenger station modeled after the classic mission-style station at Santa Fe, New Mexico. Several people suggested just modeling it myself. I took the challenge, and have created a model from foamcore, Plastruct sheets of coarse stucco, patio stone, and Spanish tile, and several 3D-printed details. The results are described in my new video (#55 in the series).

Happy Inauguration Day, Happy 2021, stay well.

Hi again guys.

Love the Mission style station !  Great work !     Sometime when you need a structure out of the ordinary you have no other choice but to scratch build it.   That was the case in supplying a mission style depot for my (show)  portable layout, the Mexicali Grande.   I had an idea what I wanted to end up with in appearance and drew out a few ideas.  Then through the use of some photo board foam core, a sharp exacto knife and a few window and door castings I ended up with the model below.

Scratch building can be quite interesting and I hope the modelers out there give it a try.   Start with something small like a lineside track shed or even a wall mounted backdrop building with just a brick facade and windows cut in.   Have fun with it, you'd be surprised with what you can do.   IMG_20230416_082147IMG_20230416_082130

Very unique build Myles. Careful, the dog is getting the lug nuts wet.
