I have a brand new LC+2.0 that has a fan motor that's squealing a lot. Just thought I'd check my options. I know it can go back to Lionel for repair. Is it possible that I can lubricate it myself? Would opening the loco void the warranty?

Thanks!

Which LC+2.0 locomotive is it? I bought the RS3 and it's a fantastic product except for the shrieking smoke unit. It seems like the ABS shell amplifies it.

Besides that, I agree with @Ted Bertiger. That's the right move to start with. I bought some MTH smoke units to replace my noisy smoke units in my RS3's but I haven't got around to seeing if that is the fix just yet.

It's a LC+2.0 Hudson from the 22 catalog. Second one I purchased and just arrived yesterday. I put a bit of smoke fluid into it, ran it, left it for a couple hours and ran it again. There was much less squealing, but still some. I'll keep trying that. I'm hoping maybe some smoke vapor might getback and help lubricate it.
