Sure, I anxiously await the reveal of the 2020 Lionel catalog, but the real disappointment is the lag time between catalog reveal and product arrival at my house is usually between a year and whenever (which could mean never). I still wait for for the woodchip hoppers from the 2017 Lionel catalog which has been moved back continually. Now availability is "expected" April 2020. 

Now Menard's... They are as close to instant gratification as you can get.  

Excited for the new North Pole Central scale freight! Haven't seen a picture though I'm hopeful from the description.

The Santa Fe 325 class F7's were painted in Warbonnet and were used in freight service as they were geared for dual service.

I can see that Everyone is in High Anticipation Of this new sought after 2020 Lionel Signature 2020, dream book catalog. Me to, in fact, my friend in Nashville has one for me which I get Tuesday. Wow, but, it’s going to be fun looking at it online Monday. 1-20, and now it’s nice to have an I-pad. Just wondering if there are and small Legacy switchers in this offering.  NW2’s, or Alco S2’s etc., or small Steam Switchers. Have a great day everyone, it’s getting close. Happy Railroading

No diesel switchers. The 0-6-0 b6’s are back. PRR standard tender & E6 tender. Santa Fe, Great Northern, & Bethlehem steel.

Oh yeah. Just pointing out what ATSF "warbonnet" F units were the dual service units for the people asking.

I'm very familiar with the "modifications" and such Santa Fe F-units went through over their service life. Just pointing the way for those who aren't. But most people who will buy that set won't be too concerned about the accuracies of the model pulling the train.

The site mentioned in this post has the Santa Fe F3 set on it. Search "deluxe".

I predict Lionel will sell a ton of these Santa Fe Sets.

The set is a 120th anniversary set so the idea is to throw back to traditional postwar sets with the warbonnet and OPERATING freight cars. Operating milk car and log car are included.  It is a very nice postwar tribute

Another interesting set is the Baldwin Locomotive Works #26 lionchief set.  It is a traditional Lionel 0-4-0 and the work caboose has a welder with an LED lit welder torch on it. ( I know 26 is supposed to be an 0-6-0, a LOT of details are wrong... but still a neat set)

One way that I could “fix” this issue would be to buy the SF anniversary set and use the F3 engines to pull the passenger cars from the recent Super Chief set.  And use the FT from the Super Chief to pull the freight cars from the anniversary set.  I fully realize that the FT engine’s announcements would be wrong on a freight train (and probably for the F3s on a passenger train) so either laugh at the absurdity or just don’t use them.

I gotta say, there are some interesting sets in this catalog! Two that caught my eye are the Boston & Maine E8 Passenger Set and the Pennsylvania Train Master Freight Set. Definitely will be getting one or both of those Virginian Train Masters! The Pennsylvania E8’s are sweet too!

Let’s hope they fixed the high water pants on the E8s — that awful gap between the trucks and the frame

There are a lot of different black GS engines in the catalog, but for the the GS-4’s in particular there’s a BNSF version of the 4449 and a 4439 deskirted version with a black engine and daylight colored tender.

there is a black gs-4 (sp lines) but it comes in a set and costs 2200 compared to 1800

I was also hoping this set would be straight, old-school conventional but this works for me.

One of the few items that I know Ill be preordering as a must have.

They must have a large, low-cost supply of the old Journal Bearing die-cast O gauge 3-rail trucks, because many of the traditional O gauge sized cars have them.

The Pennsy stuff is cool! I’ll be getting the pool service cabooses & passenger cars. That B&M set caught my attention too. Can’t wait for Monday!

 "Lighted track" will be included in two starter sets (Area 51 and Lionel Junction North Pole).

i am extremely curious  about this light up track. i hope it works well but don't how exactly it will work but extremely interesting
