The 2017 v2 Lionel catalog describes the new run of husky stacks as having removable top container but bottom container is fixed to the well. I thought previous runs had both containers removable.

Previous runs the containers were removable. I suspect they may be affixing the lower container [most likely if you turn the car over there are at least 2 screws holding the bottom container to the car] due to the fact that the cars are excessively wide and the scale 8' [2"] containers move around inside the well at least 3/16" wider than containers when operating the cars. JMO
The cars with the fixed lower container are the cars that have the end of train device. The electronics for the device must be in the lower container.

Thanks for clarify that. When I enlarged the page I could see that the fixed container was describing the EOT car. Without enlarging the page the "<" button covered up that information on my tablet's screen. Makes perfect sense that the electronics would need to be in a fixed container. Thanks again for pointing that out.
That's why I like the print catalogs and usually don't order anything until getting one. I usually miss something somewhere when looking at them online...
