July 22??  We (LHS) got our cases of the new catalogs yesterday.  Stacked on the front counter.

Had a good local laugh over one selection.  Our first trains customer for the day was looking for some WBB non-aluminum passenger cars in SP's Daylight colors to go behind his new WBB Daylight steamer.  He had been trying to pull a complete train of Lionel aluminum passenger cars so decorated.  Claimed the engine hardly had enough moxie to pull three!  (???).

Anyhow, when we were leafing through the new catalog we came across Lionel's new offering of the single-truck camp cars.........you guessed it!.....in SP's Daylight colors.   Yep.....Just what the customer will need....sleepers, coaches, diner,.......why, I'll bet his WBB 4-8-4 can pull a couple dozen of those cuties!!

And that new Santa Fe 'Blue Moose'?.....a 3751 painted in 'Goose Blue and Silver'!?!?!?  Holy Moly!

And LOTS of BTO's........the new norm.

All in all.....

thumbs up

Great picture! If I was doing marketing for Lionel, I would make that child the poster boy.

They'll sell a ton of GG1s. That was one of top responses to several threads polling interest in what Lionel should make in the Lion Chief Plus line.

I'm sure they will. I'm just not sure if I want to spend 500 on one. I could buy a lot of post-war goodies with that money.

If one of the big guys has it marked down enough I will probably spring for one though.

Here’s an EBay link with some more pictures. So far the only thing I’m interested in getting is the First Run Edition of the 4014. Looking forward to see what the rest of the catalog has!

Some bizarre steam. I do seem to see 2 Frisco 4-8-4's - repainted ATSF 3751 and classmates - which is interesting, in a way. Has not MTH offered Frisco 4-8-4's based on their tooling of the (larger) 2900-class ATSF 4-8-4's?

Now Friscoites (I'm one, minor league) can collect 'em all!

Could you post pictures of the George Bush Funeral train and other UP passenger cars?

299D547D-9140-4511-BE3D-FBA7E0B870A6They also offered more Challenger and Excursion cars.

Could you post those add-ons too? I hope Art Lockman and Howard Fogg are part of them.

Would like to see the other add-on cars and other SD70ACes as well.

Me too. Even the heavyweights too.

I also hope with these new Vision Line Big Boys, the price tags on the 2014 version will go down on eBay.

I don't think there vision, I think there just standard O ones with the road specific crew talk. They're reusing some of the numbers from the vision run which more than likely is why they have road specific crew talk since they have the files already.

How about a Legacy NKP switcher?

Yes, an ALCO S-4, NICKEL PLATE #79

enjoy your trains...

How about Long Island railroad?

No Long Island, some of the more unique S-2 road names  would be Ford, Youngstown Sheet, Portland Terminal,  Morristown and Erie, to name a few...

enjoy your trains...

I saw those. The Youngstown sheet definitely got my attention

Well, I am one of the few conventional runners left, so motive power is pretty much a dead issue for me any more. Even. LC+ is more than I need and you pay a price for the extra features.

I will need to stick to occasional rolling stock in the new catalogs, I guess. They stopped making the postwar style 15” aluminum passenger cars, too.  I have plenty of those from past issues, of course, so no complaints

As with many other things, time is quickly leaving me behind when it comes to model railroading. Give me my postwar.

@Dj'sOgaugetrains I'm pretty sure the I-12 is a bay-window caboose based on a B&O prototype, not a steam locomotive.  They've been made before.  You might be confusing it with the I10 designation for a PRR Decapod (which have also been made before ;-)

Ah cool. It’s mentioned in the very first post in this thread. I thought it was a small steamer. But yeah now I remember the Lionel caboose. I had one years ago. Thanks!

I'm dying to see those Union Pacific add-on passenger cars.

Me too.

C2EA8F04-A71B-40F9-86A2-62F38F26B49AI can also neither confirm nor deny that they offered 9096😉

I have not seen the hard copy catalog yet so I must be missing something in the feature sets of the various add-on cars. Otherwise I can't see why single dome cars have a MSRP of $329 and two car expansion sets on the same pages, each including a dome car, have a MSRP of $359. What gives?

Let's see this blue goose!

AB5B32EF-A8BF-4468-8F14-244E3687EC1EHere it is! I don’t know how I feel about it.

Another fantasy paint scheme? I took to reading what I could there and it says was to be shrouded like the Hudson but never happened. Couldn't see about the paint scheme completely, but it sounds like it never happened either.

I like that they brought this back, can't wait. I'm also wondering what else the catalog will have in store besides the big boy and the Santa Fe's?
