They have the ditch lights and a new tooling for the HEP on the roof.
Let's have a look then.
Ted S posted:@Dj'sOgaugetrains I'm pretty sure the I-12 is a bay-window caboose based on a B&O prototype, not a steam locomotive. They've been made before. You might be confusing it with the I10 designation for a PRR Decapod (which have also been made before ;-)
The I-12 wagontop B&O caboose would likely sell pretty well, as they seem to go for a premium on eBay. I have one already, and think its a well made model.

There was never a dynamo effect on a Big Boy. Just the Challengers and it is still on those.

Wow, some of my friends have the latest edition Lionel’s 2019 Volume 2 Catalog, and I am envious....My wife bought me a recliner for my train room and now, when I get a copy of the Newest Dream Catalog, the Lionel Volume 2 edition, I will be able t sit back and thoroughly read it in a quiet place. Great thread, Happy Railroading.
That Blue Goose is impressive.
Wheres the photos of the Aces and OCS units? Someone please post them!
And let's not forget the SD70ACes.
While I, like many, would love to see the full catalog on this forum, I am assuming most who have it won’t post pics. I wouldn’t want to risk my membership in this forum and I think others feel the same. Lionel has a release date, I assume, for a reason.
The catalog will be out in a couple weeks. If members get their hands on it early, I hope they enjoy it. It sounds like it will be a good book.

If they were to ban me for posting pictures of an already released physical copy of a toy train catalog...then this isn't somewhere I want to be anyway.
Some dealers have already posted items on their website including pics.

If dealers want to put it out early before the release date, that is their choice. I would think their release date is the same as the digital version.

Most Regular Joes on this Forum have no contract with Lionel and are most likely free to post whatever they want about the catalogs, when they want.....save for copyright issues.
The release date has NO real meaning for most of us as far as potential liability to Big Orange.
And do you think Big Orange really minds the free publicity?

I just picked up the first Legacy/JLC version of 4014 from a Forum Member.....for about half of the MSRP of the new one.
Are there any ACL freight or passenger cars to go with the 4-8-4 Northern?!

From what I can tell the new version of 4014 is painted just like the prototype. This means the journal box lids on the tender and the trailing trucks are painted white. Next, Lionel even painted the Big Boy on the front smoke box door. On the inside it is way different than the vision line.
To start off, there is still going to be the whistle steam inside of it as well as the stereo sound system in it, but if you can tell by the price there are some things missing. Those things would be, the blow down steam effect and two separate smoke units for the alternating chuff. Also, since 4014 is an oil burner now Lionel could not do the depleting coal load, ( which is a rely nice feature). Finally, you know the red knobs on the engineer’s side, they will probably be gone since 4014 does not have hers anymore.
There you go I hope this gives you an idea what they both have and do not have. Maybe a few more years Lionel will make a live steam Big Boy in o scale.

They just did the Cabbages. I would surly buy a Lionel HHP, E60, or ACS64. As long as they don’t have the problems of the VL GG1 or original Acela, they would be a great addition.

Since people have been talking about the NS OCS for a while now. There's a chance there might be one in the new catalog.
I just picked up one at my local dealer. Yes the NS Office Car Special is in there. The K-Line tank engine (4-6-6T) tooling is finally being used. Several road names from the last K-Line run are in the mix. There is a US Army 4-6-6-T in a gray paint scheme that looks intriguing. Docksiders in LionCheif (with sound) in multiple road names. The Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal looks nice Black with yellow trim and red windows.
The Shark Rescue and Research Set looks cool. Reminds me of the custom Shark Bay engine that a forum member has painted up on Weekend Photo Fun.

I would love to pick up one of the 4-6-6T’s, but at $1100, I could pick up a big steam loco. What happened to the $700-$800 price tag on smaller stuff? (H10’s and E6 for example) The NS Executives are pretty nice, but they are a bit pricey. They are also finally rereleasing the NS SD70M-2’s! Any new electrics??

I’m thinking it may have to do with the amount of add-on detail. The H10’s have a lot of Molded in detail, wile this older k line tooling is way more intricate. Just a guess.
Are there any matching commuter cars for the 2-6-6T’s? Particularly the New York Central & CNJ?
