I plan to get the A&P sign.  I have approx. 20 Miller Engineering signs and even though the layout is possibly overdeveloped (too bright) from the number of signs, it is difficult to pass on a great looking sign.

I'll keep lobbying for Miller Engineering to produce two version of the S&H Green Stamps sign: one for the local S&H Green Stamp Store and also much smaller "S&H Stamps Given Here" that other retailers often displayed either outside or in their windows.

It's sort of funny that Miller is producing Pabst and Budweiser signs.  Hopefully there would be enough interest to produce America's oldest (and I think it's now largest production domestically owned) brewery ...Yuengling Brewery!  Yuengling has a number of attractive advertisement.  I especially like their eagle logo.

but the dogs are cute.

Another plus for the O gauge hobby is that Yuengling has licensed with both K-Line and MTH on a variety of train products.   www.yuengling.com

I remember our small NJ town's American Store. Had sawdust on the floor in the meat dept., and the butcher would give a kid coming in with their mother a slice of baloney. When we are at the beach (Lewes, DE) we shop at a little "Mom & Pop" grocery store called Lloyd's IGA. It's amazing that such a small store has just about all we ever need. Nearby are 4 huge supermarkets that we rarely go to.

I too remember the A&P with the coffee grinders set up at the end of the cash register belts (loved that smell of the freshly ground coffee).  Although SuperFresh seemed to be a feeble attempt to rebrand the store's image, for multiple reasons, the stores continued to decline also very similarly to the Acme Markets (SuperSaver) chain.  I also remember the various family owned IGA's.  Many of those who still survived changed over in the last 5-10 years to ShureSave brand.

If I remember correctly, A&P also gave out S&H green stamps which came out of that rotary dial type contraption attached to the cash register.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, and don't recall that Isalys (loved that chipped ham mmmm makes me hungry just thinking about it) had a sign other than the black script name against a cream color faux marble background.  Maybe in locations other than Pgh perhaps??
