I see some new MTH MP-15’s are being listed with Operating Proto Smoke Diesel Exhaust. Is this a misprint or when did they add this?
Also, the regular price jumped from 349 to 500 bucks.
It’s a RailKing, even at 349, its border line engine, the number boards don’t even light up. Any info?

This is the last mp15 news I see, still 379 with no smoke listed.
The latest ones I see are $379 retail and selling for $299 to $349. I don't see any that are advertising smoke as a feature. These are from the latest run from what I can tell. Announced in 2022 with an expected delivery of October 2022 but looks like they arrived in February of 2023.

That's a Trainworld exclusive item it appears so I guess that would explain the higher price. As for the smoke, that's a good question. Would have to reach out to Trainworld and ask if it indeed has smoke or if it is an error. It shows $425 on the MTH website and the features show it has smoke but maybe a copy and paste error.

I purchased this train from train world and it was delivered to me in February. my purchase price was $399. Not sure why the price jump. Haven't run it yet so I can't speak to the smoke feature
I have the new L&N/Family Lines version and can confirm it does not have smoke. No switch underneath and the stack moldings do not have openings.

Can you take a look and see if there is a smoke pot switch on the bottom or if it is still boxed it should state on the end of the box if it has smoke.

The RK diesels used to have smoke, but I see they dropped it recently. I'd be surprised if it has smoke, the special runs are just new paint jobs.
None of the MP's ever had smoke but this is newer than the other new batch that just came out. As for RS-3's, older = no smoke, newer all smoke. Same for VO-1000's.
RS-1's did not originally have smoke but have for several years now including the new ones. Same is true of the RS-3's. Smoke has been added to the AS-616's as well. As for the RK SW's and MP's.. I'm not sure they ever had smoke..
The interesting thing is all the Railking MP15 road names clearly do NOT have smoke listed as a feature except this Trainworld exclusive one. Even on MTH's website. Usually a copy paste error goes across the whole line of road names. Not to mention the drastic price difference for this particular custom run model ($125 over retail). I know custom runs are just paint schemes but this seemed a little interesting. Also Trainworld is usually good about fixing a lot of copy and paste errors from the manufacture. I did hear that the smaller Railking diesels do not have smoke because they used the room for a duel motor application instead. I know the RS1's and RS3's still have smoke. Hopefully the information posted in this topic helped SIRT.
BTW, I enjoy dealing with Trainworld. I have always been satisfied with my orders.

This is called price gouging and a typo I purchased the SBK special run from Trainworld which was announced the same day and delivered the same time It does not have smoke The price at that time was 429 Trainworld is playing the subway community with that price because they buy anything for any price Look at the R32 price on Ebay LOL Here is a video I posted https://fb.watch/kjKgWZROHD/

Like I said, earlier RK PS/3 diesels had smoke, they seem to have dropped it from recent products, doubtless a cost cutting measure.
