"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

That's a really nice catalog - Thanks for posting it Tom.

I have an ABA set of MTH Alco PAs' in Union Pacific that are terrific. Great looking models and each unit has full power and sound w/PS3 / DCC. They sound great with all 3 units emitting engine noises and they smoke as well.

Too bad that most HO people seem to shun MTH for various reasons that I don't quite understand. Admittedly, I am a relative newcomer to HO but I like MTH products and will probably purchase more locomotives. Broadway Ltd seems to have the best reputation locally and I do have a couple of their pieces which are quite nice as well. From the new catalog here I see that MTH now has the 'wireless' drawbar which as far as I know, no one else has and thier little harness is a PITA to connect much of the time.

I see the new J Class has this feature and with a retail of $499 for a die-cast, full-featured steamer. I just may unload my BLI model and get one of these.  A major deterrent for me is the price of the passenger cars from MTH - $469 for a 5 car set. That's probably more than our O scale sets as the street price is not much less.

MTH is probably viewed as a three rail manufacturer and HO purist may take offense to that.  Their DCS system and their early attitude regarding it has probably offended some as well .  Their HO DOES run with DCC. I own a Challenger and am very happy with it and the detail is nice. I own a couple pieces of MTH HO rolling stock and am happy with them as well. I agree with you, I wanted to get the UP stream  line passenger cars but the price is past my threshold of pain.

That's a whole lot of reruns.

Still, it is an impressive lineup. I disagree that most HO modelers don't look at MTH. That may have been the case at one point, but I see a lot of HO modelers buying and running MTH now. They may not have road specific detail all the time, but they have things I appreciate like metal handrails. Their metal steam engines with sound and smoke are the best RTR models available in HO IMHO.
