 So I made a mistake and sold a couple of engines off. One was really special to me. It was a rare MTH CSX SD70ACe with scale wheels and PS2. I felt for a poster that was looking for one and I figured I'd get another. I also figured I had plenty of CSX engines already.

 As soon as the engine left I missed it. I ordered another to replace it and it took some time to get here. So I got nervous that it may have been cancelled first or something else would go wrong.

 It arrived at my house today and here she is:

So I still get excited when something new arrives. Especially this engine. It's cold from shipping and the windows steamed up. I'll need to finish unpacking her and let her warm up. I usually go over each with oil and care. I will sleep better tonight knowing that I got my hands on a special engine for me. I hope all is well inside her and she performs as good as she looks.

Listen, I am sorry but I'm rushed. I tried to get some quick videos and picked the wrong one. It takes an hour for each to load so it will be some time before I get another one loaded.

I shot 3 quick videos. I will make more and get a better one loaded to show her off. The phone loads to utube in minutes but the quality suffers.

I wanted to put her in a train and show off some improved brake and engine sounds. I think the horn maybe better suited for Amtrak? I still like it.

Look great! What minimal radius or track curvature do these negotiate?  My layout has O-42 curves, imagine the engine would navigate it but the overhang would look awful.

The 2 rail version is probably worse at tight curves. All my MTH engines run well in my yards so they will turn fairly tight (not O42).

The 3 rail premier lists O36! and there's always the Railking versions.

Joe, you can NEVER have too many CSX engines!!!  It is beautiful!!!  BTW, if I may ask a question, why did you go with DCS as opposed to DCC?  Also, what kind of G scale track do you use?  Brass or other?

I did go with DCC in HO. I switched to G scale as I couldn't work with HO anymore. At that time, keep alive circuits hadn't been widespread that I even had heard of them. I had a USA trains that I tried to install a Locksound 3.5xl decoder into. The sound was fantastic. I couldn't get it to run. Tony's train exchange helped me with my HO stuff so I talked to them about better running decoders. At that time they recommended using the NCE decoder for G and adding a sound board. I did that and it ran better. It stalled whenever track power dipped?

 At just about the same time I was deciding what direction to go, even considered Lionel's TMCC in G, I went to the York Fairgrounds G scale show. There was a display with the new MTH one gauge Challenger. My girl said she liked how the boiler looked going around curves. So I looked into MTH and never looked back. The system didn't work at first and I finally stumbled into Ray Manley's site about using DCS. There have been other rough patches along the way. This forum has helped all along.

 I decided to invest in Aristo stainless track for outside running. I got about one box every year or two. I decided track power with DCS was best for my large consist desires. The fact that I was moving it outside to make room for my new O scale made it easy to stick with MTH too.
