Ken, your videos for Trainworld TV have come a long way since the one made for the WBB 44 ton diesel running on that 3 or 4 foot test track on the counter. And as always, your enthusiasm for the hobby and the products is first rate.

But to comment on the Lionel Legacy GP30 and BTO video: If the demand was really so great for these diesels, then wouldn't Lionel just build loads of them? This is the whole reason for BTO, not just from Lionel, but from the other companies too: So they don't get stuck with an overstock of product, that then has to be blown out to sell. Or so they don't produce an item there isn't sufficient demand for in the first place.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would imagine the demand for the GP30 is more a case of folks not pre-ordering this product, then it gets released and people see how nice it is, then they decide that they would like to get one. Which I believe was the point you were making as you emphasized pre-ordering if you wish to have one.

I would say that the larger Lionel dealers such as yourselves, that are taking a calculated risk and ordering more items than are pre-ordered, are doing the customers who failed to pre-order a big favor.

But if the dealers who order surplus, eventually find themselves with extra BTO stock that isn't moving, I can't imagine there'd be a willingness in the future to over order on BTO items.

Nice videos though, and you guys are certainly doing the customers a favor by showing how nice some of these products are, not just sitting stagnant, but also in operation.

Thanks K-Line Guy! Great comments on BTO.  The Build To Order model will take some time for adjustments for sure.  It's hard to always pick the winners and stock a lot extra to help the people who didn't pre order or see it in person and have to have it.  I think were all lucky including myself to have some of the titans of the industry such as my father Ken Bianco Senior, Charles Ro, Joe Grzyboski, and Chris Gantz who have years of experience knowing which items will do well.  That being said, sometimes certain items sneak up on you and we are not fortunate enough to go back to the well.  That being said we also try to order extra just in case of shipping damages or defective product. Remember these products come all the way from China!
