 I spent the morning at trainfest with my family.  I had to really spend some time chasing around a 4 year old who was on hyperacrive overdrive the whole time but I was able to recon some info;

MTH - Andy E told me that the F3s should be on the water in December.  There will be another run of F3s in new road names in the 2016 catalog.  The old SHS cabooses should be one of the new items in the 2016 catalog.

Lionel - Matt A told me that there will be no new tooling, but there will be new items.  I asked about scale modern rolling stock and he again said that Lionel knows there is a void there and they are considering offerings. I asked if they were going to reuse the Mikado and pacific tooling and was told "absolutely".  That was nice to hear.  Lionel is going to broaden the FlyerChief offerings as well.  I have a feeling that flyer is going to mirror the Lionel line with the lionchief offerings.  Matt said that Lionel will have to look at what will get legacy as opposed to FlyerChief in the future.

Mike R - I asked about the issue I had with the switches not running off track power with the 72 watt power pack. Mike basically said, with me reading between the lines, the wall packs are junk. They will not run anything.  A set with switches will run just fine using just track power from a more conventional power Source. The wide radius switches might be on the water by December.

Some of us model pre-1965...

In other news...

Doing some research on the Utah Rails site, it appears that the number chosen for the UP F3B(1471B) was a proposed number, but no actual F3B carried that number.

My main concern is if the Santa Fe F3A's have a steam generator or not.  They shouldn't, no Santa Fe F-unit A had a steam generator.  We'll see.  I might have to do some plastic surgery.
