I have all the wires connected. Usb to computer with power going to aux power input and stereo wire from proto cast audio to proto dispatch. I go to MTH to their download page and tried to download 5.0 version first and it wants you to unzip so I did. I think it said it unzipped 2 or 3 files. I go to downloaded files and click on item and it wants me to unzip again. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

unless  you told the download where to unzip it will do it buy itself, it might be in your downloads  or desktop or other places. most people tell it to put in mth file and will create that folder n your computer!

here is the consumer loader for you to to execute just cope and paste to your computer and run it. don't forget to specify where you want it download do not just click on unzip first you must tell it where to create your zip files to download to! folder!

download this file to your desktop and then execute it, then specifiy where to create unzipped file directory ok any questions email me with my email and ill walk you threw the process ok!

good luck it really isn't that hard to due just the first time your probably trying to do it!

Barry the file goes into my documents and I sent it to my desktop and I cant send it to the engine using the loader. I trying to find a video that shows what I see when I do it but there is none. I read one OGR comment on hear where the man had the same picture that that I got and you told him to right click and I did it and it wont let me send it or open it the way it should be open. I have the file extracted in my documents and desktop . I open it and the open the loader and I cant send it to the loader. I have to find someone that has DCS by me and watch what they are doing.

You have to tell us exactly what you're doing and exactly what happens as you do it.

What I do is open the loader 5.0 version. Then I click sound file to engine and push start. Then I find the sound file in my documents. I right click on it, then I put my cursor over to send and it doesn't have DCS loader listed. It has compressed disk folder, documents fax recipient, mail recipient and DVD drive. It also has share with but doesn't say to loader.

Hmm. Try double left click instead of right click on sound file.

Double left click makes it go away.

Makes what go away?    It should show up on the loader with the file size, volts etc.    I don't think I've ever right clicked to open a sound file.  I believe the right click(open) brings out a page of numbers symbols .I always save my sound files to my desk top so I can find them with out too much of a problem.

You can actually try using the loader with just the computer (no tiu  or cables) and get to the point of clicking on the sound file that shows up (size volts) on the loader  but then the errors occur. I just tried it a minute or so ago.

Did you try  Alan over the phone?

If it's any consolation, Ive only managed to unzip two files from anyone, ever; out of hundreds(?).  I'm not exactly a computer rookie either having one since before MS went public, let alone the net.

This includes windows, androids, i-pad, and browsers that claim to open them but seldom do (though lately pdf has been ok, same thing. Too many proprietary tweaks early on wrecked it. Now that it's old news, some regularity exists again)

'IMO, it's either a crappy format or has crappy instructions (which despite the modern method of "poke till something happens", is how I do things....or don't if the instructions suck.  I think it's Plato..."to teach well, the teacher must assume the student knows nothing". Program help has failed miserably at that. Only OUR drives to use a computer has made it successful in many cases imo.

I'll lump pdf in there as a distant second on apathetic code.   When I encounter them, I usually just move on. Now I'm very glad  I didn't buy that  command unit last month; I forgot about the programing aspect.

Good luck.

Also zipping a file that is 50mb or less in size is just plain stupid.

Well, that's not universally true.  First off, the plain sound files are not ZIP files, they are indeed the raw sound file with a .MTH extension.  The PS/3 sound/chain file set is zipped, primarily because there's more than one file and that's the way to keep them together.

Another point is many sites and even security packages won't allow you to download many file types, but normally there's a way to download ZIP files as that's a very recognized file extension and is universally used.

Thank you very much John. That file worked, the only thing is in my hand held its says its a Doodlebug and that's what was programmed into that board prior. Is there a way to change what it says in hand held? I deleted loco and added it again. The computer using Win7 worked and computer with Win 10 didn't work. I am using Aol. Maybe that's why I am having a problem who knows. I still have to find someone to show me how to do this. Thanks again John

You can change the name, but it only sticks until the next factory reset.  If you know a tech, the dealer loader can change the name permanently.  As long as you don't do a factory reset, the name will stay and when you delete and add the engine, it'll have your new name.

AOL explains it all, I treat them like a virus, IMO they're worse than a virus!

Next time use any browser, for Win10, just use Microsoft Edge, it should work fine.  AOL explains why you're having so many issues downloading.

I use AOL because of the favorites. I don't know if the other services have a favorites where you can just click and go to where you want.

Of course they do!  Here's a small chunk of the bookmarks menu from Firefox as an example.  You can also organize your favorites into folders, etc.  Believe me, there's better choices than the AOL virus program!

George, I just download it and it's saved as an .mth file, easy peasy.

I am sure it did, and I am sure this is not an issue with MTH web.  But a person's computer may be changing the file extension, just like Alans posted file.  When the loader goes to look for the file it won't see it since it is looking for a MTH extension.   I know my computer started to do it, and I am not sure why.  Not everything is about how it works for you!  G

I wonder if the MTH book that Barry is talking about will show this and other problems like this to fix.

Both books, The DCS Companion 3rd Edition and The DCS WiFi Companion 2nd Edition have detailed discussions regarding updating of all relevant, updatable DCS hardware devices, PS2 and PS3 engines, and the DCS App.
