Hi folks, I just received a cute little house as an anniversary present.   I know nothing about these houses.  I thought  it was supposed to be a whistle but looks like a small transformer.  If possible I would like to get it working, but honestly I don't even know if it is complete, or safe. The pictures I found online so far show all show a whistle mechanism.  And the inside shows two wires that appear to have been cut.

Can you good folks clue me as to what I have here?  Why three terminal posts?  What's up with those inside wires?  And most interesting, any chance I could make it work?

Right, the photo I posted is of an original in my collection. Did some serious digging to find it. No # on it. Lionel cataloged a #1560 in 1933 to go with Ives mechanical sets. No transformer or whistle. In 1934 catalog Lionel Jr. Rheostat version # is 1027. Winner Lines transformer without rheostat is cataloged as #1012 per three binding posts. Winner Lines #1017 Deluxe transformer has a rheostat. Now, what actually made it to production? Maybe Rob English knows...

Ugh.  Many varieties, tons of colors.   Lionel and Ives used em.  48W  1937-1942  1012 (Winnertown or station) trans inside, 3 binding posts.   1932ish 1027, 1028, 1029 (Station or nothing) Lionel Jr line trans inside , 2 binding posts, 1 control handle. 1933-1937  1560 Station for mechanical trains, nothing inside

JHZ..yours is a 1012... posts are common, GV (i do not know what this means) and 7.5 v. I dont know order.
