New to MTH DCS / TIU / Wi-Fi | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I currently have Lionel FasTrack with a dedicated powerhouse 180 watt transformer for track power. I use a Lionel Cab-1L Legacy system to control my Lionel engines. I have purchased the last MTH DCS TIU / Wi-Fi combo they had at my local hobby shop. I hope to pick pick up some premier MTH diesels soon. I went ahead and ordered connection cable for the Legacy Base to go with the TIU.

My first question is, do I have to connect the TIU to the track even though the track is already receiving power from my 180 watt powerhouse brick?

Second, if I do need to connect my powerhouse to the TIU, do I also need to connect the track to the TIU if it will be connected to my Legacy Base, which is connected to the track?
