Hey guys. Time for a new video.

This video highlights my Lionel Amtrak E9's "AA" set. They were a special run made by Steve at "Muffin's Trains". They are hauling a mix of MTH and Lionel passenger cars in various paint schemes. Hence the name "Rainbow Trains" from the early 70's.

Amtrak began operations in May 1971 with a mixture of equipment still painted in the distinct colored paint schemes of the freight railroads that relinquished their passenger service to Amtrak. The company retained the equipment that it determined to be in the best condition and elected not to keep the same rolling stock on the same routes. Since this resulted in trains with mismatched paint schemes, the period was later known as the Rainbow Era.

I hope you enjoy the video. If so, please leave a "like" and / or a comment. Also, please consider subscribing to my Channel to receive up to date notifications of all my new videos. Thanks!
