Precisely.  It was one long one -- many, many, many, many blocks long.

Mike

The Syracuse Grade Crossing Elimination project was such an important civil construction project during the midst of the Great Depression.  There was once over 100 train movements on busy downtown Syracuse streets per day.  Can you imagine huge 15+car passenger trains pulled by a giant Hudson steam locomotive coming through the heart of downtown every hour or more?  Not to mention, the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Trains just to the south of Downtown doing the same thing.

If you tried calling us yesterday and couldn’t get through, we apologize as we had a store full of customers all-day and the phone was ringing non-stop.  (Not complaining!)

Anyway, if you’d like to pre-order this beautiful New York Central Hudson steam locomotive #5266, Empire State Express, please send an email to sales@jrjunction.com with your name, telephone number and shipping address.

I will reply back with a pre-order confirmation and as always, NO DEPOSITS or credit card numbers are necessary!

Hello everyone!  Even though I increased the production number slightly I don't have many "Jubilee Hudson's" left, so if you would like one, please let us know via e-mail at sales@jrjunction.com .  Please include your shipping information and phone number.

The PRE-ORDER price is $1,299.99

If you have already pre-ordered and received confirmations, you are IN.  If you did not hear from me, please let me know.

As usual, our pre-order customers will get the first look at artwork and production information via direct e-mail.

NEWS:  I will include with each "Jubilee Hudson" a free reproduction print of the original Grade Crossing Elimination booklet pictured here that was issued to commemorate the event.  It will be suitable for framing or just keep it with your beautiful model.

I officially submit the idea of having Hudsonfest!

We can all bring our Hudsons over to the CNY NRHS Club Layout and set them on the Syracuse Station Module when @JR Junction Train & Hobby premiers the #5266!

Who's in?

Thanks!

- Mario

Magnificent Phil!!….job well done!!

Hudsonfest?!  I look forward to that!

Speaking of the club layout, here's some photographs of our Syracuse Erie Boulevard East New York Central Station modules.  Unfortunately they are currently disassembled and undergoing extensive rebuilding using updated 3D printing.  Hopefully we will see them at the Great New York State Model Train Fair next November.

We are very excited, as they will be satin black with flat black smokebox and boiler front, just like the photo of the #5266 coming in to Syracuse station above shows.  It looks like The Central cleaned her up just a little, but the rain makes her look pretty clean.  The satin nickel drive rods will be the icing on the cake.

Thank you Phil!

SIncerely,

- Mario

I'm curious about the photo of the station. What is the platform composed of? It looks like it could be marble, but heck, I don't know. Any ideas what the base of the platform is?

I’m glad I got my order in. Can’t wait. I’m in for “Hudsonfest”

@JR Junction Train & Hobby, how many preorders are left?

Pre-orders for this locomotive have been so amazingly overwhelming we are now taking “STAND-BY” reservations.  This means, if or when a locomotive model becomes available, the first person on our “STAND-BY” list will get first refusal.  Thank you so very much to everyone who’s lucky to get on board our Jubilee Empire State Express at the new Syracuse Station!

TO BE PLACED ON STAND-BY:
Call (315) 451-6551
or
e-mail sales@jrjunction.com

I was able to increase our overall order for these from MTH, but that still won’t be enough for everyone.  If  you didn’t get in, do yourself a favor and get on the Stand By list.

Any updated ETA on these? Really looking forward to mine!

They are on the way, however we are currently working with MTH on our special Proto-Sound 3.0 sound file programming.  Our locomotives will include a recording of the original newsreel of the "Jubilee" celebration.  This may delay the release but will be worth the wait when you get all the "extras" with our J1c Hudson Locomotive such as more realistic decoration, special reprint of a rare booklet commemorating the event and even more that will be a surprise!

We couldn't be more pleased with the craftsmanship and the detail of our model.   To-date, no other J1c made by MTH Electric Trains is as authentically painted and decorated as our highly-researched model.  Those lucky to have pre-ordered this locomotive will have one fine looking model.  At this time, we are over-sold but if any of them become available, customers on our standby list gets first refusal.

I made a few mods to mine as well, …..I couldn’t stand the “leap of death” gap between the engine & tender, so a shorter 35mm drawbar was in order. That brought up the challenge of the kinda silly looking half pizza pie drop plate, so I made a new one, & fashioned it better than stock. Then it really needed a better pilot truck, so like Mario’s I’ve swapped out the pizza cutters for something a bit more appropriate…..Next on my hit list, the LED headlight,…..it’s gottzta go!…I need argon, tungsten, & glass in my life!…..😉

We’ve been going back and forth all month!

I rounded off the back of the drop coupler so it falls a little farther in the holder and so I drops a little farther down into the pilot  I was thinking of swapping it out for a Protocraft but the sizes are nearly identical.  If I were really ambitious I’d use a longer chain.

don’t forget the air hoses…

Don’t forget the coupler support bar you rivet counters. When the coupler is down its just above the shank. When the coupler is up for use the bar supports it. It doesn’t rely on the chain to support it.

Yeah Mario!!….what the heck is wrong with you!!….you’re slipping!!…..geeeezzzz, ….now Pete thinks we’re amateur hour at the Ritz,……good job!….
