Next generation MTH DCS WIFI APP and/or a third party DCS WIFI APP?
For those who already have the MTH DCS system the TIU/AIU hardware along with the new WIFI system it seems to now be a straightforward way to control a model railroad system. Although the full featured MTH WIFI APP is not yet developed my guess is that other third party apps may also be developed to provide more complex control functionality via WIFI.
What is needed is a DCS interface that would send signals from various devices such as turnouts and track occupation detectors, etc. via the WIFI interface back to your smart wireless device. A "screen" on your smart device showing your track layout could include the status of these various signals along with the ability to change a route or individual turnout position.
At present the AIU only provides output control. However a second generation AIU-2 could be designed to accept input signals from various devices with signal conditioning to allow either AC or DC input signals.
