No more TIU's ?

the Tiu's can be repaired by most MTH ASC tech's . what is the problem with yours and what rev tiu do you have, !

There are some  for sale on the big auction site, not cheap.

I have two tiu units that need to be updated.  I’m willing to let them go cheap. 200 for both as is. You will need to do the upgrade

Ok so who and where can I get the tiu repaired and upgraded can anyone recommend a good tech shop for train repairs and all mth equipment other then Mth .

You got that right! I got some good deals from this seller when he sold on the forum.

@DGJONES - I assume you're referring to the MTH 50-1039 - ProtoSound DCS WiFi Digital Command System 2?  Yes, no?  You'll notice it has an "enet" input.  I assume you have working remotes.  Unless MTH is blowing smoke (which very well maybe the case), you can use a tether (aka. phone cord) to connect your remote to this WIFI system.  I am also waiting on one of these and I have no current intention of hooking it up to WiFi.

What is an "enet" input?

It's a serial connector for the TIU.

When this was discussed previously, it was made clear that you can't use your remote wirelessly, which is obviously the only way way most folks would want to use it.  I would be very surprised if they kept the ability to connect it via the tether as well.  I'm guessing the "enet" input is likely an Ethernet connector and not for the remote tether.

Current and past DCS Remote Handheld units (50-1002 and 50-1038) cannot control the WTIU because there is no 900mhz radio transimtter/receiver in the WTIU

@gunrunnerjohn - I was expecting the comment about not wanting to have the remote tethered much sooner.  I know several major dealers have reach out to MTH regarding the enet connector and have heard nothing in response.  Makes me suspicious that the MTH 50-1039 may still be vapor ware.  If the photo can be believed, the reason I suspect it's a tether connection is given how slim the connector is and, if it is to be an external ethernet connection, it would be on the side closest to the antenna.  Obviously, I have other reasons for wanting it to be a "tether" connection. I'll believe this product when I see it.  However, the fact that it forces me to use a phone to control the trains makes it a non-starter for me in any case.

If the product actually exists, and there is an option to tether the remote, I wonder...

How long before a cottage industry springs up to build a little 900mhz transceiver module to allow use of the remotes in wireless mode?  That shouldn't be a major issue if you have the protocol already implemented in the box for the wired option.

@gunrunnerjohn - I was thinking that same thing last night.  I actually believe there is already such an option seeing that it's just a 3.3 volt serial connection but I'll leave the verification of that to others.   I know Mark D. has done some wireless work with the TIU's.  A
