Every email program/service has an address book. It's a basic feature of any email program. Go to wherever the address book is in your email program and click to add a new contact. Enter the "alerts@crowdstack.com" email address into the new contact window and save it to your address book. IF you have to give the contact a name, just call it "OGR Forum" or something like that.

If you are not using your address book, you are wasting a LOT of time sending your emails! If you have all your regular contacts in your address book, sending email to one of them is as easy as entering the first couple of characters of their name. If they are in your address book the address will pop up for you. I would be absolutely LOST without my email address book.

I to was having trouble with e-mails going to spam  ,getting late e-mails ,so i did add alerts@crowdstack.com to my contacts list ,my e-mails are now mostly going to my in box,& not to spam ,however i am getting e-mails for many subjects i have no interest in & from posts that i have not responded  to ,in my primary notifications the only thing i have checked is when someone follows you, when someone likes your content ,when your content is featured ,& when someone mentions you ,in settings i have instant notifications by e-mail ,&on site alert checked ,HOW DO I STOP FROM GETTING ALL THESE E-MAILS THAT I HAVE NO INTEREST IN from being sent to me by e-mail ,i have no idea how to do this ?      Thanks in advance .

Gerald, you have control over how you receive your notifications in your profile.

  • Mouse over your name in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • When the list of menu items appears, choose "Notifications."
  • Click on the  "Primary Notifications" tab.
  • There you will see a list of all your choices for notifications.
  • Change them the way you want them.
  • When you're all done with your choices, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the blue "Submit" button.

Rich ,I understand how to get to the primary notifications when i get there which ones would i check  to receive e-mails for any posts that i put up myself or other posts that i respond to ,right now i have checked  1-when someone follows you ;

                 2-when someone likes your content

                 3-when your content is featured

                 4-when someone mentions you

5-when your moderated content is approved/ rejected

I don't want to receive e-mails that i have no interest in, two days ago i had over 100 e-mails from the forum ,i want to stop the the ones that i have NO INTEREST IN ,or have never responded to ,i just want the ones that are responses to my posts ,or from posts that i respond to ,that's the way it was before these changes were made.

I am still getting e-mails from forums i have no interest in ,i know if you check follow this forum a box drops down & you are suppose to check how you want the e-mails sent ,if you don't check any box will you still be following that forum ? ,i don't remember checking any box ,so how would i get back to not following that forum ? Let me ask in a different way ,if i did check the box follow this forum ,how would i stop following that forum ?     Thanks

Mark ,I am first going to do as Rich suggested ,if i get any more e-mails forums that i have no interest in i will see if i have any boxes checked & if i do i will uncheck them ,i don't remember if i had checked any without realizing what i was doing, after that is done & if i don't get anymore of those e-mails from those forums i have no interest in ,i will then check to see if i am getting responses back from the forum quickly ,if i am then i may just leave my e-mail just the way it is ,if not i have the g-mail account ready to go .I do have a question though if you can answer for me ,if i change e-mail accounts ,do i have to change the e-mail listed for my personal information to ,or can i just change the e-mail account that the forum responds to ?

Gerald,

Do you have this selected under notifications?  I think that may be the issue. If so, unselect it.

OGR email setting 1

I have this selected:

OGR email setting

I changed my email address to the gmail account here:

OGR email setting 1

But I left my contact email address farther down the same page at the old Yahoo address, and a couple members have sent me emails on the Yahoo since I changed the update emails to Gmail.

I hope you can see these and they help

...I've had a few hours worth of other folks emails dumped into my account by Thunderbird or Yahoo...

You are confusing things just a bit.

Thunderbird is an "email client program." It cannot delay or dump anything. All it does is show you the email messages that have been delivered by your email provider. In this case it is Yahoo and AOL that are delaying and dumping email messages. They show up in Thunderbird whenever Yahoo/AOL delivers them. Thunderbird is just the "messenger" so to speak.

I've used Thunderbird for years. It is an excellent email client, with a lot of good tools for making the delivery of email smooth and easy. However, Thunderbird (plus Outlook, Eudora, and every other email client)  can only deliver email that is given to them by your email service provider.

Well still getting these unnecessary e-mails ,i have checked everything i was told to & i even got 2 e-mails from 3 days ago from forums that i zero interest in ,the only thing i haven't done is change my e-mail account ,everything was working fine until they went to this crowd stack stuff ,if it isn't broke why try to fix something ,i will never understand ,just my 2 cents.

Changing to Crowdstack had nothing to do with this.

Your forum emails are being delayed by AOL, so if you unchecked something yesterday and got an email from three days ago, it was sent before you unchecked things. You really need to get some other email service besides AOL. That is at the core of your problem. In your post above you said, "...the only thing i haven't done is change my e-mail account..." Gerald, that is the very thing you must do to fix this! AOL is a terrible email service.

If you are still getting emails from forums and threads you do not want three or four days from now, or after you change email providers, it is because you still have things checked that you want to get those emails! That's the only way this happens.

Rich i understand what your saying ,when i checked to see what should be unchecked ,i didn't have to do anything ,because i never checked those boxes to start with & as far as aol being a terrible e-mail service was working fine all the years i have had it ,i have checked those forums that i got e-mails from that i wasn't interested in & none of them were checked for me to follow & i repeat i have never had any problem with getting e-mails from the forum in all the years i have been a member ,so now i will change my e-mail to a g-mail account that i have set up yesterday ,i hope this doe's the trick .I appreciate all the help that you & all the other forum members are giving ,it is hard for me to understand a lot of this stuff ,because of my lack of knowledge ,i will make the change in a few minutes .    Thanks for your help.

Gerald, I know this can be confusing. But you have done the right thing by getting away from AOL email. I think you will find this solves the problem.

AOL was OK for many years. But they ceased to be an email provider long time ago. They are a "content and news" outfit now, and email has become a secondary service to them. They partnered with Yahoo for their email servers, and Yahoo isn't much better when it comes to email.
