Hi folks,

Just curious... has anyone ever thrown together a layout version of Lionel's Double Crossing board game? I'm seriously considering building a collapsable version of the game using tubular track and blown up decals of the board spaces. Here's the basic layout:

This version is designed for two players, and LionChief is the way I'm thinking to go since it works well with young kids and for lots of stopping and going. This is designed using O-31 as a minimum curve. The main issue here is size... Even with O31, it's coming in at over 10'5"x10'5". When I originally designed this, I was going to have the board be a "stop-off" from my layout's main line. Household square footage being what it is (ie bigger in my head and smaller in real life), I'm scrapping the main line diversion idea, and I'm thinking to make this a collapsible board that can be stored under the layout somewhere or in our guest room closet. I'm thinking to have it set up in 4 quadrants and use block-based wiring to bridge electricity between those quadrants. But even then, I'm looking at 6'x6' quadrants, so even collapsed it's sizable.

Anyway, just wanted to share, and I'm curious if anyone else has ventured down this road since Double Crossing came out 30 some odd years ago.

Take care,

Rafi
