O gauges HEAVY HORSES

I have 2 SD90's, one BNSF and NS. Great locos both with proto 2 and they could pull down a house. Been getting some SD70ACs and ES44's and believe me the heritage schemes will hurt my wallet big time. Time to sell some excess as the heritage engines are released. They should be some great engines.  

I shot this picture at one of our modular club layouts a while ago. IIRC the modern engine is a dummy by Lionel. My Marx train is almost as long as that one engine.

Even though O scale GE AC6000CW's are models of the 6000hp prototype, the Kings of Beasts, the 5000hp SD80MAC's and their almost twins... the 4,300hp SD9043's and the 6000hp SD90MAC's, are O gauges biggest models of single prime mover locomotives.

O scale models of AC4400CW's and GEVO's look small next to the MAC's. Even the biggest O scale GE models... the AC6000CW's.

My 80 and 9043 MAC's are currently in a consist, and their combined length is a little over 41"... outer coupler tip to tip. That is a massive O scale traction package.

Some prototype stats:

GE AC4400CW's, Dash 9-44CW's and ES44AC/DC's are 73'2"

AC6000CW's are 76' 0"

EMD SD80, 9043 and 90MAC's are 80'2"

The MAC's are 4' 2" longer than the longest GE.

Some people have a preference for the group thing. They take pleasure from more than one...

I'm not talking about a combo thing, like Nicole. Just straight one-on-one(one prime mover to one locomotive platform) action.

Groupies: those that prefer the more-the-merrier approach, the group thing..., when it comes to big units, are basically getting their kicks from two or more...

Taking pleasure from big twin-engined units, such as Nicole's 88'2" EMD DD-35A's, GE's U50's and EMD's DDA40X's, isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's just different.
