I am considering a partial kit bash of the MTH Lima Centercab diesel, the existing shell and railing cannot be changed, the roof antenna would be removed and the  Alco number boards replaced by the Baldwin number boards if available. The Baldwin number boards are recessed partially into the front and end hoods of this engine. If anyone has done this conversion of the number boards or have knowledge who may have the Baldwin number boards please provide this information. I have the Alco Soo Unit and am considering a partial kit bash for the EJ&E Baldwin Center Cab in the green/orange color scheme. I saw this engines many times in the 50's and 60's on the double East-West mainline through Chicago Heights,Il.

I am well aware that there are significant differences between the Lima and Baldwin center cab diesel locomotives and impossible to make a Baldwin locomotive from a Lima locomotive. As I said, I saw these EJ&E center cab almost daily from 1955 until they were replaced by the second generation diesels. As kids in the 1950's we watched the "J" freight drags, waved to the engineers and on numerous  occasions watched the flat switching of cars on the siding track. The partial kit bash is not prototypical but maybe this orange and green diesel will bring back the childhood memories of the smells and sounds of this Baldwin diesel many long years ago.
