In the 1970s Charles Wood had an amazing display of operating tinplate standard gauge trains. He had a train store there as well. All housed in a mansion on West Market St in Warren Ohio.  I remember buying a Bachmann HO Metroliner set there, I was about 10 years old, but really wanted the Williams Metroliner instead.   I will never forget his amazing home opened to the public as a display and store.  I wish people like Charles and his store,  products,  could be with us forever.  Thanks for the fond memories Mr. Wood!

Steve, thank you for the information.  Its been a tough year for legendary people in our hobby.

I knew Charlie since the 70's, he had a unforgettable laugh!! You would always hear him before seeing him at train shows. He was a true gentleman I am glad to have called him a friend. He will be missed. We lost another "titan" in the model railroad business. RIP, Charlie!!
