i picked up this Type I Flyer locomotive recently with an odd key...

but now i've seen the same type key for a 2nd time on a Type XVII clockwork... at the other end of Flyer clockwork CI locomotive production...

anyone else ever see one of these?
it certainly looks old.

thanks...gary

just a thought then,,, when i see a Flyer Type I with a key that looks like a Hafner key, it really is a Hafner key?  is the one i show and the earlier one you show the only keys that should be in an early Type I with the left side screw key?  i just assumed that since Hafner was part of Flyer then, the key used would be similar to the standard Hafner key used after he left.

OK, I just went and double checked my pre-1914 engines.  It seems that the first key that you showed, was also somewhat short-lived and appears to be used during the 1909-1911 era and then the keys switched to the Hafner type key that you show in your last post, likely around 1910-1911.

I would also guess that some keys have been swapped / lost over the last 110 years.
