With our thanks to Mike Petronella, TCA Eastern Division Meet Chairman, and all the other fine folks in the ED who made this happen, O Gauge Railroading is pleased to announce that the Forum Meeting will be held in the GOLD HALL opposite the Orange Hall starting at 2PM. on the York, PA Fairgrounds during the Train Collector's Association Eastern Division Meet on Friday, October 23rd.

In the Gold Hall we will be out of the wind and the weather and we will be able to sit on real seats, rather than the “seating” in the Grandstand that was so tough on the tender parts of our bodies in past years.

The OGR Forum Meeting is a fast paced series of presentations by industry representatives filled with information, insights and even some laughs. The Meeting is a blend of information and entertainment designed to give you the maximum amount news about the latest happenings in the O gauge hobby in about one hour.

This edition of the Forum Meeting will be overflowing with new product announcements, vendor doings and other O gauge happenings, so if you are on the York Fairgrounds at 2 PM on Friday October 23rd come join us and don't miss it!

For those of you who can't make the meeting in person, Steve Nelson, of Mr Muffins Trains, will accurately and wittily record all the news that is fit to relate, which will be posted separately on the OGR Forum.

Rich Melvin, CEO and Publisher of O Gauge Railroading will kick off the proceedings with several of our own announcements.

The other O Gauge Companies that are scheduled to participate are;

Atlas O

Korber Models L. L. C.

Lionel L. L. C.

Mianne-Foley Woodworking Co.

Miller Engineering

MTH Electric Trains, Inc.

OGRE Modeling

River Leaf Models

Ross Custom Switches

Scenic Express

Schneider Model Railroading

Sunset Models-Third Rail

Williams by Bachmann, Bachmann On30

And, of course, there will be the usual surprises that happen at our OGR Forum Meetings!

BTW, has Rich given thought to having blank paper stick on Hello labels available so forumites could put their real first name and screen name on it? That way you easily "discover, meet, and greet" folks on forums who were previously only a forum handle or tiny, tiny avatar photo.

Weren't they free in the spring? And you got Howard Hitchcock's autograph as well. Oh well, I guess that's inflation

Sad to say that there won't be a presentation from Weaver Models representative Paul Fischer. I use to enjoy these gatherings, but since I'm a vendor, if I leave, my stand is empty. Several years ago, when Paul wasn't able to make it to York, I called Joe, and offered to do the presentation at Strasburg. That was a cool experience! Joe had someone to do the OGR presentation, so I was able to man my table. Hopefully, Lionel and Atlas will be providing some news about their plans for the Weaver tooling they've acquired. I'd like to see the custom run tradition continue.

The Gold Hall we use at the present time is off to your left as you go up the incline toward the Grandstand. It is out of the  wind and weather and has real folding chairs, as opposed to the "seating" at the Grandstand. This way you can actually concentrate on what the presenters are saying...boy, talk about luxury!

Don

Thanks.  I recall when dealers were under the grandstand, but I thought it was known as the yellow hall, but it's been a long time.

I can't imagine that you've sat outside in the grandstand.  90% of the time it's way too cold or windy for that.  No wonder I never attended.

We held this meeting in the grandstand for years and it was just fine. Last April it was too cold outside to sit there for an hour, so we moved it inside. We've had to do that maybe two or three times over the 10+ years we have hosted this gathering.

Last April the consensus of opinion was that it was more comfortable inside and people could hear the speakers better, so we made this a permanent change.

The grandstand served us well over the years, however the seats weren't too comfortable.

I wont be able to make the trip this time but I'm still glad to read that it will be held in the Gold Hall. I can remember a couple of times when it got really cold and wet in the bleacher seats.

I hope this will be a permanent change. I'll be looking for Steve's report.

Have fun guys!
