In the diagram below cut from the DZ1008 Instruction Sheet, notice the red arrow pointing to the DZ1008's Green wire, the relay energizing wire, that is connected directly to 12-14VAC for the particular application shown. This is important in that is shows the DZ1008's Green wire can be connected to the same source as the DZ1008's 12-14VAC input wire.

We know that the 153IR contain a mechanical relay (i.e., not an electronic relay like an FET), and that the 153IR has this relay's Common input connected to the VAC input that powers the electronics within the 153IR. This causes the well know problem of trying to connect two or more 153IRs together to control an Accessory that requires use of both the 153IRs NC and NO outputs.

A possible solution is the use of a single DZ1008 relay - only one DZ1008 is needed irregardless of how many 153IRs you need to use. Refer to the diagram below. For this solution to work, all the 153IRs and the DZ1008 must be powered from the same VAC source as shown in the diagram. You then simply need to connect the NO outputs of all the 153IRs together and to the DZ1008 Green wire. With no 153IR activated by a passing train, all the NO outputs are open circuit, and thus the DZ1008 is not energized. If one 153IR is activated by a passing train, this 153IR's relay changes to apply VAC to its NO output, and the DZ1008's relay is energized (remember non-activated 153IRs have open circuit on their NO outputs). If more multiple 153IRs are activated, their NO outputs will have VAC on them , and the DZ1008 is energized. Since all the 153IRs are connected to the same VAC, no shorting of different voltage sources occurs. The DZ1008 will be energized as long as any 153IR is activated - activation time include the delay 153IR is set to.
