The track screw terminal on the back of my two-month old Legacy base is disconnected from anything inside; a nut and washer fell out of the bottom. I know I can get this fixed under warranty but if I can get inside it should be easy to reconnect. (I assume.) Is there an easy way to open the base?

Turn it bottom side up and remove the four screws. Leave it bottom side up to prevent some plastic from falling out. You can replace the nut and washer from that position. In the future, resist turning the banana connector shell on the outside. You can obtain a banana plug and just plug into the connector instead of twisting the shell to secure a wire .

The banana plug is a good suggestion.  Would a drop of blue Locking compound on the inside terminal threads before re-attaching the internal wire and nut also work?  Since most locking compounds are not recommended for use on plastics, I'd be careful to keep it off everything but the post threads and nut and wipe off any excess after re-attaching the nut.
