My Acela powered unit, number 2026, has a two inch scratch on its nose and then another similar but somewhat deeper scratch on the right side about mid-way on the body under the side window. I assume I am out of luck in finding a replacement shell..??? I haven't called Lionel yet but again, I wonder if they would even be able to help me. Any ideas? My results in the past dealing with scratches in metallic paint have been pretty much unsuccessful...
I have never been able to match silver paint very well and I sure don't want to try my hand at repainting the area on the shell so my question is....have any of you come across a way to improve the looks of a scratch, especially in silver paint, without doing a major repaint? I am also willing to buy another shell from anyone....a swap with cash??? Perhaps these two surface scratches wouldn't bother another individual so maybe I am being overly concerned but if I can make them look better and someone has an idea, please...let me know.
