Paint color on Atlas Premier TTX High Cube Boxcars

Donald I agree. Glad I didn't get the TTX ones. I really like the brown that was used on the AOK cars. It's a lighter brown than what MTH had been using. I'll snap a comparison photo in a few days (if no one beats me to it). At the hospital now, my second child was born today.

I have the two TTX in yellow and the pink TTX. They all seem bright, but with the prices for the TTX high cubes on eBay, I was glad to have the opportunity to get any. Hopefully with some weathering I can eventually tone them down. In the meantime, I don’t have to worry about them clashing with any other TTX cars.

Id just look at it as a really fresh car. They also look good weathered

Bigboy25. I agree that the recent paint jobs by Atlas are a little bright. My blue GATX ones really pop. But, no worries. I run them all.

For one semester in college, my dorm backed up to a shortline that served a Home Depot distribution hub.  They often received TTX cars, and I can attest that based on age, sun fade, etc, they appeared all sorts of variations on that yellow.

Like someone else mentioned, the Atlas car just looks like a very freshly painted version.

I found one of the yellow Atlas TTX high cubes in stock at one of the fourum vendors and decided to pick it up after the discussion on this thread. The color is much better in person, definitely brighter than the MTH run but I like the variation it adds some realism.

Search for YouTube videos with TTX box cars to see all of the various shades of yellow applied over the past decades.

As mentioned, I'd like to see Atlas release about 4 road numbers of the ttx 60ft gunderson high cubes for O scale.  I currently have 15 of the yellow ttx 60ft gunderson high cubes in HO scale...in addition to 8 CSX and 4 brown tobx.  The more of these you have in a consist the better it looks.
