Congratulations on your first.  Also looks like you got an AF Flyer Chief or Legacy, either way - great engines.

I got the legacy 1225, but I still can't run it. The front pilot wheels was lying in the plastic, the two plastic pieces holding it in the pilot truck was broken. I called Lionel on 12/3/20 after I opened it up and I still don't have the new pieces. I want to buy another legacy Berk, but if I can't get the parts to run this one I won't be buying the second one.

Pete, I read somewhere that the Lackawanna kept the trees on Paradise Curve cut down so passengers could look out on the distant Delaware Water Gap. Nice model work; good luck with the transition to S gauge!

That they did Artie, thanks for the words of encouragement. Wait until you see the 10 American Models Budd cars I am going to paint for my two E8's. It won't be The Phoebe Snow, but it will be one of the other name trains. My version is going to have rpo, coach, six dome coach, diner, observation. MOW gray, maroon, yellow stripe's and black roof. Decals will be Maroon lettering, I might have circus city decals make the yellow stripe which would be easier than masking and painting.

I was thinking on this one, The Twilight Limited. It was train #5, pulled by two E8's, left Hoboken at at 4:50 pm. I can also take the observation car off and use two train masters and run it as The Mountain Special on weekends. This train only went to Scranton and back to Hoboken in the summer months.

I can honestly say I am having fun again, maybe this change is what I needed. Plus keeping it to only ten engines helps too. In DL&W it will be two E8's and two train masters, L&NE will be two RS-2's, Reading will be F7 AB and two steam engines which will be Paradise Valley. Fifteen passenger cars and 100 freight cars.

That’s great news, Pete. The DL&W, and E-L didn’t have any dome cars, but hey, it’s your railroad, and I can’t wait to see the finished cars. As for me, I’ll probably start expanding my current layou to about twice it’s size, starting next month. I hear good things about Mianne benchwork, Gargraves track, and Ross switches, so this will be good.

I’ll be looking forward to your progress, so keep us posted!

You need any help Artie, let me know.  I wish the DL&W had dome cars, when 765 was here running they had dome cars to Water gap behind it. So they "could" of bought them, what a view that would of been coming down paradise hill curve. Snaking through the woods into Analomink, seeing the service facility at Gravel Place, coming into East Stroudsburg, then winding down to Delaware Water Gap. Crossing over the river onto the cutoff, we can only dream about what if.....

Pete,

Great choice on the paint. Pretty close to Pullman green.  Thanks for sharing your zeal for things "Pocono". I live  on the west slope and worked the Pocono main for 25 years. I love the history of the line. One of my back burner ideas is to paint and letter a couple of engines, perhaps RS3s or GP9s, for a latter day  Wilkes-Barre and Eastern.  They would be hand-me-downs from parents the Erie or the Susquehanna. Model Railroading is Fun!

Maybe soon this COVID plague will end and we can descend on  Artie's new layout.

I am in for seeing some Wilkes-Barre and Eastern, I have pictures of the service facility here in Stroudsburg where Katz's scrap yard was. And a map of the tracks in Stroudsburg where it tied in with the NYS&W at Pocono Creek. I think two extra set's of hands would help Artie out and some DL&W would be running in no time.STBG railroad map

Paradise Valley train #6 The Pocono, is ready for it's maiden voyage.

I would like to thank all of you in S scale that has given me advice, tips, tricks, your thoughts and insight to my journey to the right scale. I now fully understand how this is the right scale. HO was small and fragile, O was big & beautiful but got to expensive.

I couldn't have done this project without the help of www.circuscitydecals.com

They can make decals for anything, I sent them my ideas through messenger. And you see the final outcome, I am not a professional at this. If I can do it with a rattle can of paint, clear coat and a 8x11 sheet of decals. I have extra decals to add six more heavyweights, this train could get longer.

Pete, I'm with Joe.  I did not see your Paradise Valley topic in December, but am glad I saw it now.  I'm glad Joe found it, and I too am impressed with the job you did on the Berkshire and those passenger cars.  Living in Northwestern Pennsylvania, I have never had the pleasure of visiting the Pocono region.  I hope we can do it now that I am retired!

WB&E shops

Finally found the picture of the WB&E Shops in Stroudsburg.First rebuilt engine WB&E shops

This is the first rebuilt steam engine from the Stroudsburg WB&E shops in early 1900's.

Finally got color ink for the printer, long wait for it to go on sale. But, here is my First S scale layout design. Green is ground level, black in ground level tunnel, pink is incline, blue is second level tunnel and red is bridge. The straight side of the bridge on the bottom will be modeled after the Tunkhannock Viaduct with Paradise Valley written on the center span support arch wall. The center bridge is yet to be determined on what to use. The bottom black radius will be 28, while the second level blue radius will be 26. I made a reverse return loop on the right side as your looking at the design. I did away with the yard tracks on one side when I put the return loop. The two sidings are yet to be determined, the passenger/freight station might go under the viaduct. This will put my building skills to the test and try to improve my limits of what I can do. I plan to build it in three 5' wide x 4' long section modules to move easily. DCC control with manual throw AF fastrack R27 switches with shs/mth flex track on cork roadbed. I hope to start construction sometime next month if all my ducks get in a row. My 1225 will be doing double duty until I get my next steam engine or get an American Models RS-3 undecorated. Paint it black, white handrails like a L&NE RS-2 and Circus City Decals can make the L&NE decals but replace the lettering with Paradise Valley on the fried egg circle. Let me know what you think, the red track over the center has wiggle room to be adjusted to flow better into the curve on the top. Same with the reverse loop on the bottom, this is what I pictured in my mind.

Pete,

Very nice looking layout and full of possibilities for operation and constant running.   However, you have two reverse loops in the plan.  If you are used to 3-rail, it would present no problems.   But 2-rail means that you will have to provide for polarity switch at those reverse loops where the polarity of the rails is reversed.   Not a problem that's insurmountable, just be aware that you will have to take that into consideration when wiring.   Look into it.

This is why I love this forum, I will have to figure that out asap. THANK YOU for catching my mistake, I will have to do some research on this.
