I have just been informed of the passing of Joseph Fauty, a regular contributor to OGR magazine and owner of Model Structures for Model Railroads. Received the following email from one of Joe's close friends this afternoon:
"It pains me to inform you of the untimely passing of “the best” O’ scale craftsman modeler. . . Joe Fauty. He died suddenly early on Friday morning from a pulmonary complication connected with pneumonia . I know he wrote several articles for you along with excellent photographs. Beside his “Model Structure” business, he worked on his greatest model in his spare time: an“Unfinished Symphony” that could dazzle all who visit. His layout is an electrical engineers “dream works” with unprecedented craftsmanship in track work and scenic detail. Unfortunately , it will never get finished!"
Joe's most recent article appeared in RUN 326, October/November 2022 (our currently available issue). Two additional articles I received from Joe are scheduled for publication in our Feb./March and April/May 2023 issues, and I fully intend to publish those articles. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Joe in the development of his articles, and his contributions will certainly be missed. I feel I should also note that Joe never wanted payment for his articles, and instead asked that any payments be donated to a local food bank in your editor's hometown. His greatest interest was simply in sharing his knowledge and experiences with his fellow model railroaders.
