Purchased a new building and had to add space for it.

I want to run a conventional train on the same track as my VL Hudson. Think I have read that all I need to is add a TIU and connect to the        PH 180. Is it  really that simple or do I need to by addition connectors?

How do I connect the two pieces of equipment?

If you mean one loop of track, with one conventional loco and one Legacy loco, and have them both go around the loop AT THE SAME TIME, that is gonna be difficult. You would have to cycle the power until the conventional engine is running forward, then try to get the Legacy up to speed. Easily solved by having a siding and park the one you don't won't running on the siding, and maybe a switch to cut the power if the conv is on there. Or just use the Hand-Of-God to remove the conventional.

Keep in mind you will also need a Lionel command base and a controller. I have the blue Command Base and blue CAB1L, there's the higher dollar CAB2 and not sure what its base is called. The original 1990's CAB1 is gray as is the original PowerMaster and Command Base.

Thanks. I have abandoned the ideal of running both a conventional and VL Legacy on the same loop, remembered that I could not manage a VL Bigboy and a VL Hudson on the same track without 100 % attention, yes a couple of derailments (no damage) and each got it's own loop.  There are 6 loops on my layout, one will be changed to conventional and another will be Legacy 990 controlled.

Was going to put in a siding but do not have the room to do what Michael suggested and decided to just save a few dollars and not buy more equipment jut reroute what is already there.

Thanks

Brent
