All you have to do, after selecting that "Reply with quotes now" icon, is then highlight everything you want to delete, then hit your delete key. Everything you highlighted will be deleted, leaving whatever you left un-highlighted.  Very, very simple.

Oh, I get it:  You have to hit delete after each sentence you've deleted.  I was never able to figure that out before.  Thanks.

Typically if I reply to a post with multiple pictures and I want to comment on one of them I delete the rest out of the reply with quote box. Otherwise I just use reply. The problem isn't with the software but the users. They just need to be a little more conscious of what they are doing. It wouldn't hurt anyone to maybe help them out and explain how it is correctly done If it's such a drag on your experience here.

Great post and Loooooooong overdue! Why is it necessary to repeat ANY image? Why not just reference it by description, as in: John Doe's second image of loco XYZ or whatever the pic in question is.

Maybe this is a call for a "Tips" section on "How to Use the Forum".....or if one already exists, maybe it needs to be more visible.

It is really tiresome looking at the same stuff again and again.

It's not you.  And I agree with all, that repetitive photos are irritating.

However, nowhere can I find how to reply with quote (only) when photos are a part of the original post.  As I see it, the only way is to retype the section of the original post to which I want to reply.  (The delete button deletes only text).

Yes referencing one or two photos for a point AOK.  But two or three individuals re-posting 6, 8, 10 or more photos is beyond a point.

Absolutely NOT true. If you "highlight" a photo and hit your "delete" key, it will indeed be deleted. I do such an action all the time, when I desire to refer to ONLY ONE photo in a long string of photos.

Some of us are not able to access the net with a broad band connection, and loading tons of the SAME image can be a painfully slow process. Apart from that, I couldn't care less what you are doing, be it right or wrong.

To add to what Hot Water posted regarding quotes and selective editing/deletions; if there is a quote and photo that you wish to specifically identify, you can also shrink or resize that quoted photo by clicking the photo in your quote section and then hold the left mouse button to capture the outer photo's frame and slide to proportionally reduce the photo to identify it for others but as a much, much smaller size.
