Another one not to be missed is Len's Train Shop in Irwin (be careful, GPS / Google Maps puts his address in wrong place).

Other ones in the Irwin/Jeanette/Greensburg area are Niedzalkoski's Train Shop in Jeannette (limited amount of O gauge), and Dick's Train House (Greensburg address, but closer to Jeannette).

If going to Patrick's in WV, there is also Chippers Trains in Washington Crown Center Mall just off of I70.

I agree with Andy, all of those places are great train shops, I have not been to the ones in WV.

My choice in the Pittsburgh area would be C.T. McCormick Hardware a little north of Pittsburgh in Zelienople, PA.  Housed in a quaint little hardware store just like in days gone by, the train selection is excellent and the customer service provided by Jeff McCormick can't be beat!   He offers good discounts on prices.  I also receive his well-packaged shipments to Wisconsin within three days.  The only thing I am not 100 percent sure of is how to pronounce Zelienople.

Underground Railroad Shop in New Castle, PA.  Nice shop with lots of post war Lionel.  Modern MTH and Lionel also.... new and pre-owned.  Nice 50's - 60s music is always playing too!   Lou Palumbo owns and runs the shop. Very nice guy!  He writes a column for Classic Toy Trains.  Although I don't subscribe to CTT I do occasionally pick up a copy at local train shops just to read Lou's article ... "Views from the Underground"

I always enjoyed visiting Mercer Junction Train Store whenever I was up that way.  Great shop!  Now with Dave closing the shop at the end of 20202, I don't have a reason to go to Mercer anymore.

I've never visited the other stores in the Pittsburgh area, suggested in this thread,  but will do so next time I'm up that way.

Not to turn this thread into a nostalgia trip...but A. B Charles was REALLY the berries. I grew up with that place and loved my many hours spent there. Old A.B. himself was not above talking with a penniless kid.

As an adult, I also loved the Iron Horse in Bridgeville. The owner was nowhere near as nice as A. B. but the selection of 0 scale and the walls lined with pre-war standard and 0 made for some great visits.

I went to both of these shops.  Mr. Charles was the best.  Nothing finer than leaving with a new engine wrapped in brown paper.  When his son took over though things went south IMO.  It was never the same.  They moved a couple of times but it just didn't pan out and finally closed.

The Iron Horde was also an awesome place.  Frank Hare the original owner was one of the nicest guys around and if I'm not mistaken one of the earliest TCA members.  He always had time to talk about trains and was great to deal with.  Later after the business was sold it also wasn't the same.  The new owner was more business man than a hobbyist.  After about 2-3 years he ended up closing the business.
